Gasworks Art Park proudly presents the Melbourne debut of the sellout Sydney’s storytelling phenomenon Tell me a Story, hosted by the award winning storyteller and comedian Kathryn Bendall.
Rated as “The Most Magnificent Entertainment!!” by Sydney’s Daily Telegraph, Tell Me a Story will showcase three of Melbourne’s funniest comedians and four “civilians” telling true ten minute spellbinding stories on the theme of Family at this year’s Midsumma Festival.
Expect to hear incredible, inconceivable, honest, candid and sometimes raw stories of the human experience of family and families, hated, loved, discarded, created and extended. Expect to laugh, weep and be profoundly moved in 90 minutes as storytellers explore the theme of Family, often in unexpected ways.
Tell me a Story celebrates stories of ordinary life, and the sometimes extraordinary events within those lives.
At the center of each performance is, of course, the story – and Kathryn Bendall works with each storyteller to find, contour and present it.
Each of the seven authentic and individual voices of the storytellers guarantees that the audience will skip between documentary and theatre, absorbed in the intimate and vulnerable challenges of just being human. Expect to be enlightened as well as entertained.
All stories are told without props, sets or notes. This is a night of mesmerizing and magnificent entertainment like no other. Come and see what all the excitement is about!

How to Audition
Do you have a story to tell? Well, please, tell me a story. Your story. The story can be theatrical, amusing, enthralling, sad or just plain thrilling. The main thing is, it’s your story and it’s true and we want to hear it. The story must be told in less than 10 minutes.View more
